Garden Design · Irrigation
Living, growing landscapes.
Full-yard planting plans, eco-friendly soil work, and irrigation that keeps the design alive through August.
Garden Design
From site analysis to first bloom.
Garden design at Green Rhino is led by Milly Gao — site analysis, plant selection, CAD layouts and SketchUp 3D so you can stand inside the design before we plant a single thing. We work in sustainable, climate-appropriate species suited to Ontario's clay soils and freeze-thaw cycles, and we lay them out on a structure that holds up under real maintenance.
Every garden plan answers three questions before any spec'ing happens: how the space gets used, how it gets watered, and how it gets maintained. Get those right and the plant choices almost decide themselves.
What's included
A complete garden plan.
Site analysis
Sun, drainage, existing soil, microclimates, neighbours' canopy.
Planting plan
Species selection, mature-size spacing, four-season interest.
Soil & mulch
Organic soils, amendments, mulch sized to plant type.
Edging & beds
Bed shapes designed to mow around, edged so they hold.
Irrigation
Optional drip or zoned spray to match the planting.
Maintenance handover
Written care notes per plant, what to do when, what to skip.
Irrigation
Watering that thinks about the plants, not just the lawn.
A garden without irrigation is a garden that looks tired by mid-August. We design and install zoned irrigation matched to plant type — drip lines for beds, low-volume spray for delicate species, full-coverage rotors only where lawns actually need them. Smart controllers keep the schedule honest and the water bill reasonable.
Irrigation can be added to any garden install, or retrofitted onto an existing yard. We pull permits, locate utilities, and trench cleanly so the lawn knits back together by the end of the same week.
